The official opening of the photo exhibition “Saving Ukrainians in Times of War"

Today, on May 2, 2023, the official opening of the photo exhibition “Saving Ukrainians in Times of War – Evacuation and Distribution of Emergency Supplies by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine, with the Support of the European Commission” took place in the Berlaymont building in Brussels. 

In her welcoming remarks, President of the European Parliament  Roberta Metzola  emphasized the importance of cooperation and solidarity between countries and nations, especially during these difficult times when the war in Ukraine has been going on for more than a year, taking away lives of tens of thousands of people.

Roberta expressed her gratitude to the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine and the European Commission for their tremendous support of the Ukrainian people since the first days of the war.

The opening ceremony was attended by: Oliver Varghese, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Policy; Vsevolod Chentsov, Representative of Ukraine to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community; Eli Cohen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, diplomats and representatives of international organizations.

The organizers of the exhibition, Rabbi Raphael Rutman, Executive Vice Chairman of the FJCU, and Rabbi Levi Matusof, FJCU representative in the European Parliament and Chabad representative in the EU, are pleased to welcome everyone to visit the exhibition from May 3-14, 2023. 

 "Whoever saves a single life, saves the world entire" is a phrase from the Talmud that reflects the mission of the FJCU. This exhibition is proof that the power of human kindness and solidarity can overcome any challenge, and our unity is the key to peace and prosperity.
